I’m planning to run the Dryden Lake Lollipop Challenge course on Saturday, August 29, and it’d be fun to have some company on all or part of the course from anyone who isn’t running Monster on Sunday instead. Here is the plan, which includes ice cream and starting in the middle of the course:
3:45/3:50 PM: Warm up at the “butterfly bench” next to the Jim Schug trail by Agway, just across the road from Dryden Creamery.
4:00 PM: Start running toward Freeville. I expect my pace to be between 10-11 minutes per mile. At the Freeville turnaround, turn around and head back to the butterfly bench.
5:00ish PM: Grab a drink (from water bottle left near bench) and continue on the other half of the course, which goes to Dryden Lake, around the lake, and back to the bench.
6:15ish PM: Ice cream at the Dryden Creamery!
I already ran this course once this year, with a time of 2:29. I don’t think my legs will have a sub-2 half marathon in them for tomorrow, but I’d like to substantially drop that time. Averaging an 11-minute pace gets us in at 2:25ish, so I’ll be looking to average some 10±minute pace (no long stops!).
