And now it’s time for something a little different—everyone is invited to a choose-your-own-adventure group run, followed by a home-cooked pancake breakfast at Tonya’s and my house at 50 Hickory Road, with a quick pond dip (bring a towel) to cool off before sitting down to pancakes with running friends. Families are welcome and can hang out here during the run too. Please RSVP by choosing a run so we get a rough headcount.
For runs, you can choose your distance and terrain—please vote for what you’re planning:
- Ellis Hollow Creek Crossings: FLRC Challenge course with 2.2 trail miles
- Genung-Ellis Hollow Creek Loop: 4.6 road miles
- Turkey Hill-Ellis Hollow Creek Loop: 6.2 road miles
- Triple Hump: FLRC Challenge course with 9.2 road miles
- Pseudo Skunk Cabbage: FLRC Challenge course with 13.1 road miles
We will meet at 8:30 AM and start at 8:45, though people tackling the longer distances are welcome to start earlier on their own. Meet at either the Ellis Hollow Nature Preserve (for Ellis Hollow Creek Crossings, Turkey Hill-Ellis Hollow Creek Loop, and Triple Hump) or at the Ellis Hollow Community Center (for Genung-Ellis Hollow Creek Loop and Pseudo Skunk Cabbage). You can also park on the west (Ithaca, facing downhill) side of Hickory Road by our house, as shown below, and run to either start.
Tonya and Dave Kania have been plotting how to pull off a pancake breakfast for ages now, and they have grilling gear and ingredients for at least 125 pancakes out on the deck, with syrup, honey, and jam for toppings. There’s no need to bring anything, but if you want to, some fruit to eat on pancakes would be great – or any other food that you’d enjoy sharing. People will trickle in as they finish their runs, so we’ll be cooking from about 9 AM through noon.
Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, ability, pace, or preferred pancake toppings. This is a free activity, and while FLRC membership and FLRC Challenge participation are encouraged, neither is required. If you haven’t already done so, please sign the FLRC Training Programs waiver. You only need to sign once for all 2026 workouts and group runs. Subscribe to FLRC’s Races and Group Runs calendars so race dates, group runs, and other club events flow into your calendar.
