FLRC Challenge group run at Lick Brook Sunday 8/10 at 8:30 AM (North Country Half)

I scouted the North Country Half Course for those doing the group run tomorrow.

I started around 6:20 am. Directions are practically Sarah proof which is saying something!! I drank about 1.5 L of water, but admittedly, I started under hydrated. Bugs were minimal on the way out, but I “ran” into some mosquitoes the last 3 or so miles.

Around mile 1.75, there are some trees down across the trail, but they are no problem to get around. Trail is mowed!! I had no problem picking up the trail at Hines Road, but not too far past there, I lost it. I came out in a field of goldenrod (there is a truck near that area). Don’t go into the field. I didn’t think the trail was obvious in this area, but it was easier to follow on the way back. Also around this area is a 2x3’ wooden ‘bridge’ for crossing, be careful, it’s more like a balance board! :winking_face_with_tongue:

The only other issue I had was after you pick up the trail off of Rockwell Road, you come out in a plowed field where the perimeter is mowed. You turn left to follow the trail. I did not get a cue here. Also, there is a shoe sucking wet/mud stretch when you duck back into the trees for a short stretch. I avoided it on the way back by sticking to the edge of the field. :grimacing:
