Thanks for the question, Michelle! They’ve been on Sundays lately simply due to scheduling. This weekend we have the fascia release workshop on Saturday and didn’t want each event to compete with the other. Last weekend Sunday was the better option for the host. The weekend before we had a trail race the preceding Wednesday so wanted to give folx some time to recover before hitting the 7-mile pretty tough trail course (and when scheduling I thought the previous weekend’s group run was going to be on Saturday). The weekend before that Trackapalooza was rescheduled to Saturday, so even though our intention was to have the group run on Saturday, we had to move it to Sunday–though there was a Monster preview group run on that Saturday.
In the spirit of accessibility and equity, we have been very aware of trying to alternate weekend days for group runs, and have also been trying to be equal between the weekend days for our weekend races as well.
Due to cross country coming up soon, of which the meets take place on Sundays, you should be seeing more Saturday group runs. We just haven’t scheduled past Monster, which is Sunday the 30th. I anticipate the next group run will be Saturday, September 5.
I hope this helps explain why we seem to have been favoring Sunday group runs when in reality we just had to be flexible with how schedules were changing.
