Two more courses to go! This weekend’s FLRC Challenge group run will explore the trails of the 11-mile Ludlowville Loop course in Lansing. The final group run on the Dryden Lake Lollipop course will be on August 12, right before the Challenge ends. Full schedule here.
We’ll meet at Ludlowville Falls Park at 8:30 AM. After the usual milling, introductions, and photo, we’ll aim to start running the course around 8:45 AM. We’ll have some bagels and fruit for post-run snacking—make sure to vote in the pace poll so we can bring enough. And please do vote! Voting in the pace poll helps newcomers get a sense of who else will be running their pace. We always have a wide range of runners, so you’ll generally find someone to run with.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, ability, pace, or anything else. This is a free activity, and while FLRC membership and FLRC Challenge participation are encouraged, neither is required. If you’re not running the Challenge, please sign the FLRC Training Programs waiver. You only need to sign once for all 2023 group runs, so if you’ve already done so, you’re all set—check here.)
Let’s reduce the number of car trips to fight climate change and help those who don’t have cars. Vote if you need a ride or can give one, and post in this topic with pickup details.
Thanks, Alan! Yes, for anyone driving from Ithaca, just head down Brickyard Road past the Lansing track. If you miss the turn, you can go up 34B and turn right on Ludlowville Road.
Tentatively planning to join tomorrow, though I may have to “abort”, as I’m nursing a low-grade groin muscle pull. Hoping I can manage if I take it nice and easy, but won’t really know until I’ve been running for a half mile or so.
A few people know that I had ideas for places to go eat after this run. Unfortunately, the boat restaurant at Lansing Harbor will be closed this particular Sunday. And, the Scoops ice cream stand doesn’t open until 2pm. On the plus side, Adam and I will be bringing post-run treats, including a banana bread that I am baking today.
Also, if I arrive before we begin, I plan to start out walking. Others will catch up with me and I hope to run at least some of the course with other people. I can probably run 11 miles, but I’ll have a better day if I walk some of it.
Tentatively considering bringing Erin tomorrow and we’d be walking the whole way… This is dependent on whether she’d want to do two courses in a single weekend again (we are headed out there today) and also the weather. I see thunderstorms and potentially heavy rain in the morning, though the weather seems to change all the time.
Definitely wasn’t the run I had planned but I’m glad @gumbywhale and I could help someone in need. Thank you @adamengst and @tonya-engst for the post run snacks.
