FLRC Challenge group run on Sunday, 8/11 at 8:30 AM at Taughannock Falls (Jacksonville Rd)

In our schedule of FLRC Challenge group runs, we have just two to go as we work our way up to the longest courses. This week we’ll be tackling Run Rabbit Run, our 11.1-mile Trumansburg course.

We’ll meet at 8:30 AM at the Taughannock Falls parking lot off Jacksonville Road and start running at 8:45 AM. After the run, we can hang out and socialize with some refreshments—some people may wish to pop into Trumansburg for breakfast or ice cream.

If you haven’t yet picked up your purple FLRC Challenge shirt, this is a great opportunity to get it from me and enjoy a weekend run with friends. If you can’t make it to any of these group runs, contact me to arrange a pickup.

Please vote in the pace poll below so others can get a sense of who else will be running their pace. We usually have a wide range of runners.

  • 8:00-9:00-minute pace

Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, ability, pace, or anything else. If you haven’t yet signed up for the Challenge, please sign the FLRC 2024 Training Programs waiver. You only need to sign once for all 2024 group runs, so if you’ve already done so, you’re all set—check here.)

Let’s try to reduce the number of car trips to fight climate change. Vote if you need a ride or can give one, and post a reply below with meetup ideas.

I live near Target and can give a ride if someone in Northeast Ithaca needs one!

I think the link to the parking lot sends you to the wrong place on google maps.

I believe the coordinates of the parking lot are:
42.53180, -76.61596

Whoops! I thought I’d pasted the new link in, but must have missed. It’s correct now.

Hey Adam,
The ICS file for calendar additions looks to be outdated. I’m only seeing 2014 through 2022.
Just a heads up.
Mike Wood

Hmm! When I load the ICS file for the calendar, I’m getting a lot of current events. It does look like @heathercobb3 and I forgot to add the group runs (I’ve put the next two on), but races and Tuesday night workouts and board meetings are appearing.

Can you take a look again and see if you’re getting any events after 2022? Perhaps delete and re-add the file?

Hmmm, last I remember us discussing adding the group runs to the calendar it ended without a decision either way. You wanted to think about it some more simply because of how many there are and the fact it might be clutter people would gloss over. It’d be great to have them, though!

Could be—I’m not remembering that decision (or lack thereof), but I have an insane numbers of details bouncing around in my head. Coming at it from the current perspective, I can’t see adding a few more events per month to the Google Calendar as problematic. So if you could go ahead and add those (assuming you have login details—if not, I’ll share them), that would be great.

Ah, I think I remember the larger discussion! I was thinking that there might be a way to link the Google Calendar to the public Web calendar that appears on the home page of our website. It would be annoying to have to double-enter all the group runs on the Web calendar too, but I’m not sure our current calendaring plug-in can do what we want.

@MikeWood Hope you’re enjoying this wee peek behind the curtain.

Hello- new to the group. Do I have to be signed up for the challenge to join this run? (I know I’ll need to sign the waiver…). Thanks!

No, you don’t have to be signed up for the Challenge as long as you sign the waiver. Everyone is welcome. But there are still three weeks left in the Challenge if you wanted to take it on.
