FLRC Couch to 5K program starting in April with a virtual info session—spread the word!

Welcome to FLRC’s Couch to 5K program!

Whether you’re completely new to running or a lapsed runner looking to get back into the groove, this is the program for you. Our inclusive and supportive 8-week program will be led by a team of experienced FLRC members who know what it’s like to start from scratch. With at least one group run every week, you’ll have easy access to advice, encouragement, and accountability, as well as the chance to make new friends to keep you company on your running journey!

Anyone who completes the program and runs 5K will get one year of free FLRC membership, ensuring that you have the support of our community of runners as you continue your athletic adventures! The program has been timed so that you’ll be ready to take part in the Twilight 5K on Tuesday, June 10, but this isn’t obligatory — we’ll work with you to find the best way for you to run your own 5K.

If you have any questions, please come to our virtual information-sharing session at 6pm on Thursday, April 10 (register here). This informal session is designed to give you the chance to meet us and ask questions about the program — no commitment required. You can also post questions here on the forum or send me a direct message (click on my name and the blue Message button), and we’ll get back to you.

No experience is necessary to take part, and there’s no participation fee — you simply need to sign up via Webscorer to complete our group run waiver and come to the group runs.

We hope to see you at Cass Park for the first group run at 6pm on Monday, April 14!

Yes - there will be a total of 3 workouts scheduled for each week, so we’ll do the first one as a hosted group run each Monday evening.

I have a few pairs of running shoes that didn’t fit in my suitcases when I collected them for my trip to Cuba…Used but completely usable. If any of the runners in your program need shoes, please dm me.
