Thanks to coordination by @rebeccamlambert, FLRC will be marching in the Ithaca Festival Parade. It’s coming up on Thursday, May 29 from 5-7 PM, and we want YOU to join us! We’re celebrating the full spectrum of Ithaca’s running community, from speedy tracksters and rugged trail runners to gritty road racers and stroller-pushing parents. Everyone in FLRC is welcome, whether you’re working your way through Couch to 5K, cheering from the sidelines while nursing an injury, or making it all happen as a volunteer.
Let’s show Ithaca what FLRC is all about—fun, fitness, and community. Bring your club pride and plenty of pizzazz! We’ll have more info soon on music, race-themed antics, and parade day logistics.
If you’re in, fill out this Google form so we can get a sense of the numbers, and be sure to let us know which FLRC-focused shirt you’ll be wearing.
Will they still have the mile run at the beginning of the festival?
“Don’t wait until the conditions are perfect, but rather try to make space in your life for things and experiences that really matter to you. Appreciate your health and all the other blessings that we often take for granted.” --Maria Rabb, April 2015
No, sorry, the Ithaca Festival Mile was the capstone event of the Ithaca Youth Bureau’s Marathon Miles program with the local elementary schools, and IYB hasn’t done that for a number of years now. People loved it, but I imagine it was a lot of logistical coordination. (It was real work for us just in timing the fast heats, given the point-to-point course and massive number of spectators.)
For those who haven’t signed up on the Google Form, Carl’s referring to our practice session and subsequent drinks the day before. Because there should always be more chances to hang out with running friends.
