MITHACAL MILERS track workout Tuesday, 1/27 at 7:15 PM in Barton Hall

We’re back to meeting downstairs on the west side of Barton Hall (facing the Statler Hotel) at 7:15 PM to get changed and chat, with the warmup and workout explanation starting at 7:20 PM and everyone heading upstairs to the track at 7:30 PM.

DO NOT BE ON THE TRACK LEVEL BEFORE 7:30 PM! (Our Monday/Wednesday group was chastised for going up at 7:20 PM.)

Workout

We’re in the deep part of the mile training season now, folks, so this week’s workout is going to focus on strength and endurance to help you hold up later in the race.

Everyone will start with a 200m approaching R pace, followed by a 200m jog to spread the group out on the track. Then the real workout is as follows (click the link for your workout card):

You’ll note that there are gaps in those ranges for you to self-identify or adjust based on how you’re feeling. If you’re a 6:15 miler, for instance, you could run either 1400m or 1200m, or potentially some of each.

If you have significant mileage (40+), you could add another rep at the end.

We’ll talk more at the workout about how to know when and how to cut a workout short, too.

Kids’ Workout

Lizzy Rayle (@LizzyR) is away this week again, but Kate McCormick (@kcmccormick8) has volunteered to step up and work with the kids this week along with Lizzy’s high school helpers. Kate will be recruiting more parent help in the future as well, so think about what you might be able to do.
