Run Cross Country with FLRC/High Noon This Fall

If you miss running cross country from high school—or you’ve always wondered why some people love the sport so much—join the FLRC/High Noon team as we race in the Pete Glavin Cross Country (PGXC) series this fall. Our team has runners of ages 11-80+.

Check out the flyer below for essential details, or read on below the flyer.

The PGXC series has five races spread across upstate New York, with teams from Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, and, of course, the tiny Ithaca area! You can join us for all five races, just one race, or anywhere in between. Because this is a team sport, it’s not just about showing up and running. We encourage everyone to wear a team jersey and hang out with your teammates.

We are impressed with how our local running community has represented itself in this series. Not only do we typically take home racing wins (chocolate for individuals, beer for teams, and glory for all) while competing against some of the fastest runners in upstate New York, we also support and cheer for everyone on the team, no matter where they finish. Typically, about 100 people join us for at least one race each season. We get to know one another during carpools to away races, and we stop for post-race lunches at breweries, creperies, wineries, and bistros.

Because of the way points work in cross country scoring, we need lots of runners across all age groups. People sometimes worry that they aren’t fast enough and will make the team do worse. Don’t worry—the only way you can make the team do worse is to not come. If we don’t have enough runners in a particular age group, we don’t score at all for that group.

We’ve updated the PGXC Cross-Country Teams page with 2026 registration directions and other essential information—including race dates and locations. Follow all the directions to ensure that you are fully on the team—we need to get you on the roster and include you in carpool and party information! If you have questions, please reach out to Tonya (FLRC head captain) or Adam (High Noon head captain), or your age-group team captain (listed on the PGXC Cross-Country Teams page).

Optional Tuesday night team workouts have begun at the Cornell Botanic Gardens. Watch the Group Runs category on the FLRC Forum for details.

See you on the run,

—Tonya & Adam (FLRC/High Noon team captains)
