Summer Speed interval workout Tuesday 7/7 at 6:15 PM at Stewart Park

We’re back at Stewart Park for the rest of July. As always, all are welcome, though you should be running enough that 3–4 miles isn’t a problem. We meet at the bocce pits near the big pavilion starting at 6:15 PM, with warmups starting at 6:25 PM. Everyone needs to sign the waiver once for 2026, and if you’re coming regularly, be an FLRC member (there’s a free option).

We’ll return to the Bird Sanctuary loop this week for 6-8 repetitions of 3 minutes at I (5K) pace, followed by 2 minutes of easy pace recovery. The unusual part is that after you finish a fast rep, you’ll turn around and do the recovery in the other direction, backsliding on your progress around the 1-mile loop. Coupled with slightly staggered starts, this should ensure that everyone is constantly passing others in one direction or another, keeping it a group workout.

See you Tuesday!

Thanks to @miajs123 and Alexander Simpson for the on-the-ground intelligence that the Bird Sanctuary trails aren’t currently passable, even for our top hurdlers.

We’re going to stick with the 3 minutes at 5K pace, 2 minutes recovery, but we’ll stay on the Waterfront Trail to avoid car traffic. And instead of turning around on the times, we’ll just turn when we hit the ends of the trail.
