Update #22 for the 2026 FLRC Challenge

Just the highlights this week, since I’m relying on dictation and need to rest. Congratulations to Adam Pesta and Sarah Giesy for completing their 10-course Classic Challenges, and to Matthew Coston for finishing a 10-course Personal Challenge. Special kudos also to Joel Kresock and Adrian Kresock, who completed their third Personal Challenges despite being only 6 years old. They both did the 10 courses that ranged in distance from the 1.0-mile East Hill Rec Way and Sweet 1600 to the 3.9-mile Beebe Lake course. We are now up to 38 finishers!

Meanwhile, Adam Pesta used a fast Black Diamond Trail effort that earned him second place on that course to vault into the Most Points lead for men, ahead of Nico Huber and Chris Petroff. Adam also landed in third place for Age Grade. Similarly, although she completed all of her courses back in early August, Sarah Woodyear knocked off a fast Sights of the Heights course to take the lead in Most Points for women, nudging Caitlin Loehr down to second, while Katerina Tang holds onto third.

There are a ton of races this weekend, including the club team racing the PGXC 5K in Buffalo on Sunday, and on Saturday, Harry Greene’s The Ramble 5K and Cyclocross race and dance party, the Hare Prix 10K in Watkins Glen, and the ITH Runway 5K.

Or, if you’re feeling more low-key and somehow haven’t already completed this course for the Challenge, we have a group run on the Black Diamond Trail on Sunday. Remember, the Black Diamond Trail is closed weekdays from September 21 through October 2.

Have a great weekend covering the ground!
