Although I’m sure it will happen very soon, we still don’t have the final signature we need from Cornell to have workouts indoor in Barton Hall. Plus, quite a few of our regulars raced hard on Sunday in the final PGXC 8K, and the cold, wet forecast for Tuesday night suggests that running outside in the dark won’t be fun.
So we’re taking this week off—there is no FLRC workout Tuesday. If you raced on Sunday, get a few easy miles in to move your legs. If you didn’t race on Sunday, I encourage you to get out for a run during the day and do a relaxed fartlek, which entails random 30- to 60-second pickups and roughly equal recoveries. Pick a tree or telephone pole or intersection that’s an appropriate distance away, run hard to it, and then pull back to easy pace for a minute before repeating—do 10 to 20 reps, depending on your weekly mileage.
Barring further unforeseen delays, we should be able to start regular indoor track workouts next week, 11/18, and I’m planning the mile time trial for two weeks later on 12/2.
To make sure you’re ready for next week, please sign the new FLRC Training Programs and Cornell waivers that we’ll need from everyone for this coming season.
