Scavenger Hunt Week 3 (December 29 - January 4)

The final week of the Scavenger Hunt, Week 3, starts next week. As we look to close out another year of 2025 and gear up for 2026, here are the items for next week:

  1. Run in blue, the Winter Chill, or a group run
  2. Fuel on your run (liquid or food)
  3. Run by a body of water (lake, river/creek, waterfall, ocean, etc.)
  4. Snow!
  5. Music or sounds that got you through your run
    Bonus Items!
    Recreate a winter movie scene
    Pinecones

Week 2 entries will be accepted through December 28. Remember, for every selfie or picture of one of these items that you post, you get one point. The runner(s) with the most points will be entered into the swag drawing at the end of the event. Don’t forget, there’s the opportunity to earn extra points based on particularly creative or artistic photos, or those that get lots of “likes” here on the Forum.

Out for a walk on Monday, eating a protein bar, and experienced some graupel! Not snow (so hope it counts) but rather supercooled water droplets that froze onto falling snowflakes.

That protein bar looks delicious, what is it and would you recommend it to others? Also, yes, graupel totally counts!

They are the Power Crunch Pro, recommended by my nutritionist, which has 20g of protein. They have a version with 12-14g of protein. The Pro version is kind of crumbly, so I save them to eat when out for a stroll. My favorite is the peanut butter fudge, but this is the salted caramel.

Speaking of out for a stroll, I happened to find some pinecones on my walk today.

Thanks for sharing!

A few locations: ran in blue at a hotel, post-run hot chocolate, Gulf of Mexico, and snow in Ithaca.

Thanks for the fun challenge! It definitely got me running more than my own motivation.

On New Year’s Day I went on my first run after two weeks’ rest and explored some of the ADK Rail Trail and Baker Mountain in Saranac Lake. There was plenty of fresh, fluffy snow, with a temperature of 4°F and real feel of -10°F.

Before I headed back down the mountain, I paused my watch and listened to the sound of the breeze blowing through the trees. I didn’t hear as many birds this morning but maybe because it was COLD!

Though it doesn’t count for this week, I wanted to share that my favorite post-Baker beverage is some kind of latte from Nori’s… on this day it was a soy matcha latte.

Yesterday I wore blue and ran the first Winter Chill alongside Cayuga Lake. Thanks to @scottpdawson for the photo!

And that’s a wrap on the Scavenger Hunt! :tada:

This year’s event had eight enthusiastic participants who told stories through their photos, shared their runs, and collectively scored close to 70 points. :glowing_star: From hot chocolate and matcha to runners checking in from Costa Rica, Florida, and Ithaca, it’s been an amazing journey capturing the spirit of the running community.

With all entries tallied, I’m thrilled to announce @hollyb as the FLRC swag winner! :trophy: Congratulations, Holly! I’ll be reaching out via the Forum with next steps.

Thank you to everyone who joined in and made this event a success!
