As I write this @Challengers, we’re at exactly 1,000 runs for the year, with nearly 4,500 miles logged — impressive running (and an easy per-run mileage to calculate)! I’m sure those numbers will increase a bunch as everyone gets their weekly runs logged and does more over the weekend.
The top of the leaderboard has been pretty quiet, although Molly Doruska has moved into the top spot in Most Points for women, Columbia Warren is now in second place for men, and Andrew Flyak has moved into third place in Most Miles. I also note that the @Fabulous-50s have finally made it into third for Team Points, while the @Fantastic-40s and @Super-60s-70s trade first and second back and forth.
Other notes:
-
If you’ve ever wondered what our shirts look like while in progress, I just received the photos of the pre-production proofs.
-
Lakefront Loops 5K group run on Saturday: This week’s group run will be on the Lakefront Loops 5K course at Cass Park. Flat, paved, and easy! Join us Saturday at 9 AM!
-
Good luck on the Gorges Ithaca Half: Lots of people are running @Ian’s Gorges Ithaca Half this Sunday—have a great race and be sure to submit your times for the Freeville Fly-In course, along with a race report.
-
Temporary course adjustments: Sarah Giesy reports that the Gorge Trail part of our Taughannock Rim & Falls course will be closed through June 11, so I recommend skipping that course until next weekend (foreshadowing!) And the Fall Creek bridge on the Fall Creek Trails course is closed to pedestrians, so I’ve gone with Steve Desmond’s suggested reroute.
-
Get Moovin’ on the Track: If you missed Diana Hackett’s account of being on track lockdown while police and a vet tech attempted to tranquilize an escaped heifer, go read it now. And then listen to the 1996 song Cows With Guns. Best Sweet 1600 post of the year so far!
-
Challenge streaking: Kudos to Pete Kresock for logging at least one Challenge course every day since day 2 on April 19—41 consecutive days! But did he keep it alive with a cooldown after the Rabid Raccoon 100-mile?
-
Photos of the week: Sights of the Heights gets two this time—Heather Cobb and Rachel Neugarten smilingly documenting their Lucifer’s Crossing 10K submision, and Paula Klaben discovering even more sculptures than I had realized were on the course. And it’s always great to see Melissa Plank finding the Andrew Goldsworthy egg cairn! (I didn’t realize he was an A.D. White Professor-At-Large in Sculpture at Cornell from 2000–2006 and 2006–2008.)
Until next week, keep covering the ground!
