MOVED TO DUCK TRAILS: FLRC Challenge group run Saturday, 5/2 at 9 AM at Stewart Park

Since parts of the Waterfront Trail are closed for repair, we’re switching to Duck Trails.

The 2026 FLRC Challenge is picking up steam, with 88 people setting themselves a variety of running challenges to complete by November 15. That’s plenty of time, but there’s no need to delay the fun of ticking courses off while running with friends, so sign up for the Challenge today!

To help get new folks oriented and so everyone can log another course, Saturday’s group run will be the easily followed 5K Waterfront Trail course starting in Stewart Park (check the course page for a Google Map pin showing the start and RunGo directions), which is one of this year’s Classic Challenge courses. After the usual milling, introductions, and answers to Challenge-related questions, we’ll aim to start around 9:15 AM. There’s lots of parking in Stewart Park—turn right after entering Stewart Park and park in the lot to the east of the large pavilion.

Please vote in the pace poll below so others can get a sense of who else will be running their pace. We always have a wide range of runners, so you’ll generally find someone to run with.

Pace Poll
  • Sub-8:00-minute pace
  • 8:00-9:00-minute pace
  • 9:00-10:00-minute pace
  • 10:00-11:00-minute pace
  • 11:00-12:00-minute pace
  • 12:00-13:00-minute pace
  • 13:00-minute+ pace

Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, ability, pace, or anything else. This is a free activity, and while FLRC membership and FLRC Challenge participation are encouraged, neither is required. If you’re not running the Challenge, please sign the FLRC Training Programs waiver. You only need to sign once for all 2026 workouts and group runs, so if you’ve already done so, you’re all set.

Subscribe to FLRC’s Races and Group Runs calendars so race dates, group runs, and other club events flow into your calendar.

When I ran the course on Tuesday 4/28, the trail was closed between the suspension bridge and IFD training facility. The path was completely gone, but I was able to get around it by running through the parking area. Work continued along the trail past the training facility, but that section was still open.

There is a post on Facebook on the “Black Diamond Trail, Ithaca to Taughannck” public group dated April 27th that discusses Many construction projects that will impact a few of the courses. I will try to grab a screen capture.

Thanks, all! We’ll switch to Duck Trails for Saturday. More shortly.
