Run with FLRC and High Noon in the 2021 Pete Glavin Cross Country Series!

Good day, runners!

The organizers of the upstate New York Pete Glavin Cross Country Series have announced the full 2021 schedule and opened registration. Every fall, we field men’s and women’s teams in the series, competing against teams from Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Auburn, and more.

We hope you’ll join us — it’s just like high school cross country, but with better food and beer for prizes. Plus, we carpool to races together, hang out at our team tent, warm up and cool down together, and sometimes stop for lunch on the way home as a group. All team organization will take place here in the #PGXC category in the FLRC Forum.

Tonya Engst captains the women’s team, which runs under the FLRC name, and Adam Engst captains the men’s team, which runs as High Noon. The schedule includes five races between 5K and 8K, spread around the upstate area.

  • Sunday Sep. 12, 2021 11:00 5K Syracuse Track Club Long Branch
  • Sunday Sep. 26, 2021 11:00 5K Auburn Pulsars Everest Park
  • Sunday Oct. 10, 2021 11:00 6K Checkers AC Akron Falls
  • Sunday Oct. 31, 2021 11:00 6K High Noon/FLRC Taughannock Park
  • Sunday Nov. 07, 2021 11:00 8K Genesee Valley Harriers FLCC

If you want to run—and we encourage you to do so, regardless of age or ability!—you must register yourself at RunSignup. (Preferably before July 31st to help plan the T-shirt order.) You can register for individual races, but if you’re likely to do at least four of the five races, it’s cheaper to sign up for the full series and get a long-sleeved T-shirt as well. Be sure to select the option to join an age-group team and select the appropriate A team for FLRC or High Noon, depending on your age. (We manually populate B teams for particular races only when we have too many runners for the A team.) The age-group categories are:

  • U19: 19-and-under
  • Open: 20-39
  • Masters: 40-49
  • Vets: 50-59
  • Super Vets: 60-69
  • Ultra Vets: 70+

The second registration step is to indicate which races you’ve signed up for on our team roster spreadsheets. If necessary, add a row for your name, and then put a Y in the column for each race you can run, ? if you’re not sure, and N if you definitely can’t make it.

Any questions, just ask @tonya-engst or @adamengst!
